NEGOTIATED PURCHASES SUMMARIES BELOW
DTN COMMENTS: Formula totals for last week were mixed, lower in Kansas and
Nebraska, but higher in Texas: KS 71,333(-6,173), NE 44,482(-7,087), TX
60,930(+1,160). Total trade volume was also mixed, lower in Kansas and
Nebraska, but higher in Texas: KS 78,980(-6,280), NE 67,201(-5,714), TX
63,996(+1,185). New showlists appear to be lower in all major feeding areas,
somewhat lower in Texas, but lower in Kansas, Nebraska/Colorado. Bids and
asking prices have yet to be established, and significant trade volume will
likely be delayed until the second half of the week.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (Choice 367.70 +2.14, Select 364.29 +2.35),
with light box movement (20.27 lds of choice cuts, 4.93 lds of select cuts,
3.40 lds of trim, and 4.20 lds of ground). Cattle futures at the top of the
noon hour are sharply higher on live contracts and sharply to significantly
higher on feeder issues.
