DTN COMMENTS:   A light dressed trade is taking place in parts of 
Nebraska at $380, about $3 lower than last week's weighted average, some 
of these are set for delayed delivery (the weeks of March 23 and March 
30). Live business is now developing in the South at $240, $4 lower than 
last week's weighted averages. Some live deals are also being reported in 
Colorado at $240

Today's slaughter totaled 88,000 head, 1,000 less than last week, and 
20,000 below a year ago. No kill is planned on Saturday, the weekly total 
will be 521,000 head, 2,000 more than the prior week, but down 58,000 
from 2025. Cattle futures closed sharply lower on live contracts, off 337 
to 447. While feeder issues ended the day significantly lower, off 697 to 
745. Beef cutouts are expected to close mixed with light to moderate box 
movement.
